The Indian Red Cross Society (IRCS) is a voluntary humanitarian organization to protect human life and health in India.

They are a symbol of protection and a sign that help is at hand. They are also a sign of hope, and must be respected. The red cross emblem came into existence more than 150 years ago when the Geneva Conventions adopted it to protect medical personnel assisting the wounded on the battlefield.

The main functions of the Red Cross are: To extend relief and help to the victims of any calamity – fire, flood, famine, earthquakes, etc. To procure and supply blood for the victims of war and other calamities. To extend all possible first-aid in an accident.
