UN's Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) Peace, Dignity and Equality on a healthy planet United Narions Sustainable Development Goals (UN SDGs). By learning about the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development, students will understand in a tangible way the importance of the 17 goals in their daily lives and in the global community. The UN Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) are a universal set of 17 integrated goals adopted by the United Nations in 2015 as a shared blueprint to end poverty, protect the planet, and ensure prosperity for all people by the year 2030.  The 17 SDGs address various global challenges. These goals include ending poverty, achieving zero hunger, promoting good health and well-being, ensuring quality education, and striving for gender equality. The goals also cover clean water and sanitation, affordable and clean energy, decent work and economic growth, and industry, innovation, and infrastructure. Further goals aim to reduce inequalities, create su...

Tiger conservation

Image
Tiger conservation Why we need tiger conservation?  In the year 1900 tiger population was about 1,00,000, but today census says 2608 to 3905 in the world.  There are eight recognized subspecies of tiger, five of which are living (Bengal, Amur, Indo-Chinese, Sumatran and South China tigers),  nearing extinction!!! Other three already extinct.  Which ruled earth for about 2 million   years.  WHY SHOULD WE SAVE TIGER? # Tiger play pivotal role in the health of the ecosystem. # Tigers constitute the top carnivores in the ecosystem and is at the apex of the food chain. # The removal of a top carnivore from an ecosystem can have an impact on the relative abundance of herbivore species within a guild. Time to conservation.  Time to act now.  Tiger conservation is an effort to preserve the tiger population and its natural habitat. Here are some ways to conserve tigers Protect habitats Secure large, biologically diverse forests and grasslands w...

Trees our saviours

Image
Trees our saviours Trees our saviours are one of the most vital components of our ecosystem, and their importance cannot be overstated. Here are some of the key reasons why trees are important: Environmental Importance 1. Oxygen Production: Trees produce oxygen through photosynthesis, which is essential for human and animal life. 2. Carbon Sequestration: Trees absorb carbon dioxide from the atmosphere, helping to reduce greenhouse gas emissions and mitigate climate change. 3. Soil Erosion Prevention: Tree roots hold soil in place, preventing erosion and landslides. 4. Water Cycle Regulation: Trees play a crucial role in regulating the water cycle, helping to maintain healthy watersheds and prevent flooding. 5. Air Purification: Trees help purify the air by removing pollutants and particulate matter. 6. Noise Reduction: Trees can act as a natural sound barrier, reducing noise pollution. 7. Climate Regulation: Trees provide shade, cooling the air through evapotranspiration, and blocking ...

Microplastics: The Invisible Threat to Our Planet

Image
Microplastics: The Invisible Threat to Our Planet Microplastics, tiny plastic particles smaller than 5 millimeters, have become a ubiquitous pollutant in our environment. They contaminate our oceans, waterways, soil, and air, posing a significant threat to human health and the environment. What are Microplastics? Microplastics can come from various sources, including: 1. Breakdown of larger plastic items 2. Microbeads in personal care products 3. Synthetic fibers from clothing 4. Plastic pellets used in industrial processes Impacts on the Environment: 1. Ingestion by marine life, leading to physical harm and toxicity 2. Contamination of the food chain, potentially harming humans 3. Absorption of chemicals and pollutants, exacerbating their effects 4. Contribution to the already massive plastic pollution problem Impacts on Human Health: 1. Ingestion of microplastics through food and water consumption 2. Potential toxicity and physical harm from ingested microplastics 3. Exposure to chem...
