  Tiger conservation Why we need tiger conservation?  In the year 1900 tiger population was about 1,00,000, but today census says 2608 to 3905 in the world.  There are eight recognized subspecies of tiger, five of which are living (Bengal, Amur, Indo-Chinese, Sumatran and South China tigers),  nearing extinction!!! Other three already extinct.  Which ruled earth for about 2 million   years.  WHY SHOULD WE SAVE TIGER? # Tiger play pivotal role in the health of the ecosystem. # Tigers constitute the top carnivores in the ecosystem and is at the apex of the food chain. # The removal of a top carnivore from an ecosystem can have an impact on the relative abundance of herbivore species within a guild.
