Non violent life style
Non violent life style building towards peace and harmony
in todays world.
Building a non-violent lifestyle today isn’t just about avoiding physical harm—it’s about shaping how we think, speak, consume, and relate to others. In a fast, polarized world, it becomes a powerful, almost revolutionary choice.
இன்னா செய்தாரை ஒறுத்தல் அவர்நாண
நன்னயம் செய்து விடல்.
குறள் # 314. பால்: அறத்துப்பால். அதிகாரம்: இன்னா செய்யாமை (Not doing Evil).
(The (proper) punishment to those who have done evil (to you), is to put them to shame by showing them kindness, in return and to forget both the evil and the good done on both sides.)
In theory and in books it sounds good, but in reality how do face and practice this non violence and feel the power of this necter,
Let’s break it down into something practical and real.
🌱 1. Start with Inner Non-Violence
Most outward conflict begins internally.
-
Practice self-awareness: notice anger, ego, fear before they spill out
-
Replace self-criticism with discipline + compassion
-
Use simple tools: breathing, journaling, mindfulness
This idea comes strongly from Mahatma Gandhi — “Be the change you wish to see.”
🗣️ 2. Non-Violent Communication (NVC)
Violence often shows up through words.
Inspired by Marshall Rosenberg:
Instead of:
-
“You’re wrong”
Say: -
“I see it differently because…”
Key habits:
-
Listen to understand, not to win
-
Speak facts + feelings (not accusations)
-
Avoid sarcasm, insults, and labeling
🤝 3. Practice Empathy in Daily Life
Modern life pushes competition; peace needs connection.
-
Try to see why people act the way they do
-
Respect differences (religion, politics, culture)
-
Don’t react instantly—respond thoughtfully
Even small acts matter:
-
Let someone go ahead in traffic
-
Stay calm in arguments
-
Help without expecting return
🧠 4. Reduce Digital & Mental Toxicity
Today’s biggest violence is often psychological.
-
Limit exposure to:
-
Hate-driven news
-
Toxic social media debates
-
-
Curate your feed for learning, growth, positivity
-
Don’t engage in online fights—it fuels division
🌍 5. Ethical Living & Consumption
Non-violence extends to how we live.
-
Avoid exploitation (cheap labor, unethical brands)
-
Reduce harm to environment:
-
Less waste
-
Sustainable choices
-
-
Consider plant-based or mindful eating (optional but impactful)
⚖️ 6. Stand Against Injustice — Peacefully
Non-violence is NOT passivity.
Examples:
-
Peaceful protests
-
Speaking truth respectfully
-
Supporting fair systems
Leaders like Martin Luther King Jr. showed that non-violence can create real systemic change.
🧘 7. Build Daily Habits of Peace
Small routines shape identity.
-
10 minutes of silence daily
-
Gratitude practice
-
Forgive faster (not easy, but powerful)
-
Spend time in nature
⚡ Reality Check
Non-violent living is not soft—it requires:
-
Emotional control
-
Courage to stay calm under pressure
-
Strength to not retaliate
In today’s world, that’s a rare kind of power.
“Nonviolence is a weapon of the strong.”
“In a gentle way, you can shake the world.” - MK Ghandhi
"May all beings live happily"
is the most important principle and highest prayer of the Samarasa Shuddha Sanmargma taught by Vallalar (Thiruvarutprakasa Ramalinga Adigalar). It expresses the principle of love that eradicates hunger, promotes compassion, and cherishes humanity, regardless of caste or religion.
We will post you with more updates and training sessions and workshops to get into practice non-violence as your lifestyle to bring inner peace as well as world peace.
